Cupuaçu butter, also known as white cacao, comes from a tree that grows in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia. This tree can reach up to 20 meters in height and produces large fruits containing an average of 20 seeds, covered in abundant yellowish-white pulp with a characteristic acidic flavor and aroma. From this pulp, a butter rich in essential fatty acids is extracted, making it exceptional for treating dry skin and skin exposed to prolonged sun. Furthermore, cupuaçu provides vitamins and antioxidants to combat the signs of skin aging, and is therefore used as a cosmetic ingredient.
The cupuaçu producers are responsible for fertilizing and harvesting the fruit. The fruit falls from the trees, and the producers collect it in bags, separating the seedlings before drying them and finally sending them to our supplier's factory in Madre de Dios, Peru. The harvesting season then takes place from December to March.
